PREP ROUNDUP : Gonzalez Throws No-Hitter in 11-0 Foothill Victory

Leeann Gonzalez pitched a no-hitter as Foothill defeated Orange, 11-0, to clinch the Century League softball title Monday in a game at Foothill. The game was called after five innings because of the mercy rule.
It was the fourth no-hitter this season for Gonzalez (16-2), who struck out six. Melissa Wielandt, had three hits, three stolen bases and scored three runs for Foothill (19-2, 9-0 in league).
In another Century League game:
Canyon 5, El Modena 2--Nina Lindenberg had a home run and a single and four runs batted in for host Canyon (20-4, 7-2).
In the Garden Grove League boys’ tennis tournament:
Semifinal results--Phillip Lim of La Quinta defeated Ray Nanda of Kennedy, 6-3, 6-0, and Bach Nguyen of La Quinta defeated Jong Hahn of Bolsa Grande, 6-1, 6-4, at the Los Caballeros Racquet Club. The final is set for 2 p.m. Wednesday.
In the Orange League boys’ tennis tournament:
Final results--James Yu of Western defeated teammate Annand Jethca, 6-0, 6-3, to take the singles title at the Anaheim Tennis Center. Steve Johnson and Ron Lacuata of Valencia beat teammates Robert Bae and Huey Dang, 6-4, 6-2, for the doubles title.
