World IN BRIEF : PAKISTAN : Bhutto Mate Cleared of Defrauding Bank

A special court in Karachi acquitted the husband of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto on charges of defrauding a state bank. Justice Fakharuddin Sheik found Asif Ali Zardari innocent of charges he defrauded Habib Bank by obtaining an unsecured loan of $10.5 million for a friend to start a chain of duty-free shops across Pakistan. Zardari still faces trial on charges of kidnaping, extortion and murder in connection with the Aug. 22 killings of 28 supporters of a rival party.
