Lockheed Wins F-22 Contract

President Bush wants to allot $690 million for his new education plan. The taxpayers will pay $72 billion for a new line of fighter aircraft.
Hmm . . . let’s put the zeroes in for added clarity:
Education: $690,000,000
War planes: $72,000,000,000
If you multiply the education budget by 100, you still don’t get the budget for just one line of warplanes. (If you object that the $72 billion is over several years and not one, which is true, I’ll tell you (a) it certainly isn’t over the next 100 years, and (b) the $690 million for education is simply being transferred from other programs anyway--no new money.)
So take off that mask, Mr. President, and show your real face. Ladies and gentlemen, meet the War President.
