Dr. Elmer C. Zeiss; Retired Dentist
Dr. Elmer C. Zeiss, who practiced dentistry in Burbank for more than 50 years, has died at his Burbank home. He was 87.
A longtime Burbank resident, Zeiss died April 24 of a heart attack, said his wife, Jean J. Zeiss.
Born in Chicago, he graduated from Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill., and came to California in 1924. Zeiss began practicing general dentistry in Burbank in the mid-1920s and retired in the late-1970s.
Zeiss was a charter member and past president of the Burbank Optimist Club and was a lifetime member of the American Dental Assn.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years; brothers Dr. Edward Zeiss of Appleton, Wis., and Dr. Fred Zeiss of Palm Desert; and 14 nieces and nephews.
Private services have been held. Forest Lawn Mortuary in Glendale handled the arrangements.
Donations can be made in Zeiss’ name to the American Heart Assn.
