Bonita School Superintendent to Resign Post
The superintendent of the Bonita Unified School District in the eastern San Gabriel Valley on Monday accepted a job as superintendent of the Huntington Beach City School District in Orange County.
Duane Dishno, 49, is expected to resign formally at the May 11 Bonita school board meeting. He will remain as its superintendent until July 1.
Dishno, who has held the job three years, says he accepted the Huntington Beach position because it will cut his commute considerably and will give him more time at home with his family. Dishno lives in the Orange County community of Westminster.
“I was not looking for a job, but this opportunity came up, and they don’t come around that often,” Dishno said. “I leave the house between 6:30 and 7 in the morning, and I rarely get home before 7 and usually it’s much later than that.”
