Times Mirror Unit Funds Environmental Program: Times Mirror Magazines said it will contribute 2.5% of its revenue from ads featuring environmental messages to environmental education programs. “Our goal is to persuade as many advertisers as possible to run brief conservation and environmental messages in their ads,” said Francis P. Pandolfi, president of the unit, which publishes such outdoors-oriented magazines as Field & Stream, Skiing and Yachting. Environmental Protection Agency Administrator William K. Reilly called the program “an example I hope others will respect and follow.” Pandolfi estimated that the program could raise “several hundred thousand dollars” in its first year. Times Mirror owns The Times and other media properties.
