Fond of Newfoundland
I was extremely pleased to read the articles on Newfoundland, my island home.
But one of the most beautiful bays of Newfoundland is not referred to in any way. I have in mind Bay d’Espoir (French for Bay of Hope) on the south coast. This magnificent fiord-like bay is accessible to very large ships. Three small towns, Milltown, Morrisville and St. Alban’s, are situated along the delightfully forested coastline of the bay. In my humble opinion, the picturesque bay (of hope?) has the potential for a tourist’s paradise.
