Furor Over Police Beating

Being an Afro-American, I first believed that Gates should resign immediately to speed the recovery from the King incident. I now believe that Gates must remain to serve as a visual warning that future police brutality cases will not longer be looked at as minor incidents. Gates prompted this incident by his negative attitude toward minorities, so let him stay and clean up this mess. Staying would be punishment because he will have to work ten times harder to remove the tarnish from the LAPD.
