The body of a man was found by the side of a road Friday in Alpine, and, several hours later, investigators labeled the death a homicide.
San Diego County sheriff’s deputies received a call at 4:36 p.m. that a man was lying near an embankment at the corner of Alpine Boulevard and Tavern Road, Sgt. Roy Stamper said.
The man was not identified, and the cause of death was being investigated Friday night, “but when we got to the scene, suspicious circumstances” compelled investigators to label the death a homicide, Stamper said.
The investigation continues today.
