Titans’ Wilhite Gets OK to Talk to Other Schools
FULLERTON — Cal State Fullerton center Aaron Wilhite has received permission from Athletic Director Steve DiTolla to speak to other schools about transferring.
Wilhite, a 6-foot-7 sophomore who was the team’s second-leading scorer (12.8 points per game) and rebounder (7.7) this season, said he has not decided whether he’ll leave the Titan program.
Several players called for the dismissal of Coach John Sneed after the Titans’ 14-14 season, and the administration has been evaluating the program. A decision to retain or dismiss the coach has not yet been made.
“All this controversy is not good for the future of this program,” said Wilhite. “I want to look for a program whose future is set. I may not leave, but I wanted to do this just in case.”
If Wilhite decides to transfer and is released from his scholarship by Fullerton, he would have to sit out a year before becoming eligible at another school. If not released, he would not be able to receive financial aid for one year and would have to sit out two seasons before becoming eligible.
