O.C. Girls Advance in Miami Junior Tennis Tournament

Page Bartelt and Keri Phebus won their second-round matches in the girls’ 18s division of the Easter Bowl Junior Tennis Championships Tuesday at the Doral Resort & Country Club in Miami.
Bartelt, who attends Capistrano Valley High School, defeated Sherri Vitale of Bradenton, Fla., 7-6 (7-2), 5-7, 6-2. Vitale is the daughter of sportscaster Dick Vitale.
Phebus, who is the top-seeded player and attends Corona del Mar High School, defeated Camille Baldrich of Puerto Rico, 6-3, 6-3.
In the girls’ 14s, third-seeded Brandi Freudenberg of Orange defeated Leslie Cook of Boynton Beach, Fla., 6-3, 6-3.
In the boys’ 18s, David Roditi of San Clemente defeated Martin Engel of Glen Ellyn, Ill., 6-1, 6-3; third-seeded Adam Peterson of Orange defeated Troy Mulert of Wesley Chapel, Fla., 6-3, 6-2, and Heath Montgomery of Santa Barbara, seeded 11th, beat Graham Gilles of Laguna Beach, 4-6, 7-6 (7-3), 6-2.
