Assailant in Passing Car Shoots Driver
GARDEN GROVE — A 21-year-old motorist was wounded early Saturday when he was shot in the face by an attacker driving alongside his car on Brookhurst Street who fired at him several times, police said.
The shooting occurred about 12:30 a.m. as Somphavanh Chanthachak of Banning was traveling south on Brookhurst with a companion, Police Lt. John Woods said.
The other car pulled along the left side of Chanthachak’s car, and one of the two people inside opened fire, Woods said.
As his assailants fled, Chanthachak pulled over and flagged down a police officer.
He was taken to AMI Medical Center of Garden Grove, where he was treated and released, Woods said.
