World IN BRIEF : MEXICO : Explosion Kills 2 at Chemical Plant

Pipes in a chlorine plant exploded, setting fire to the installation and killing two people. Petroleos Mexicanos (Pemex), the government oil monopoly, said 122 people were injured. Tallies at nearby hospitals suggested that as many as 350 were hurt. A Pemex spokeswoman said there was no estimate of damage in the explosion, which occurred at 6:40 a.m. PST. The plant in Pajaritos, 300 miles southeast of Mexico City, is one of the largest in Latin America.
