GARDEN GROVE : Teen Found Shot on Street Near His Car
A 17-year-old boy from Westminster was in surgery late Sunday with a gunshot wound in the chest after an ambulance crew spotted him bleeding on the street next to his car, police said.
“It’s all sort of a mystery right now,” Lt. Chuck Gibbs said of the shooting, which apparently took place about 8:25 p.m. near the intersection of Brookhurst Street and Westminster Avenue, perhaps in a parking lot.
“We have nothing--no witnesses, no suspect, and very little information to go on right now because we have a victim in surgery who can’t talk,” Gibbs said.
Gibbs said investigators think the victim--whose name was not released because of his age--may have been shot by someone in a second car. The victim was found on Brookhurst just north of Westminster, next to a Hyundai that he had apparently been driving.
