2nd Look at CHP’s Best Ticket Writer
Is CHP Officer Tony Gubler (“CHP Crowns New Champ,” Feb. 21) a competent, motivated, uncompromising officer, or an eccentric oddball whose abnormal law enforcement practices have made him the California Highway Patrol’s champion ticket-giver?
Gubler, seemingly power-hungry and lacking self-esteem, considers himself a productive officer. “I’m just trying to do my job to the best of my abilities,” he says.
Balderdash. Gubler’s self-righteousness does not honor police officers who cite motorists for committing serious, not trivial, violations.
Thursday, Feb. 21, must have been a slow news day. Why else was Gubler glorified?
