Asbestos Trust Pays Out $60.7 Million: A trust set up by former asbestos manufacturer Manville Corp. has disbursed $60.7 million to partially pay for removing the hazardous material from schools and other buildings, said Kurt Schaffir, the trust’s executive director. So far, he said, the trust has paid out $153.7 million to meet refurbishing costs. The property damage trust was created as part of Manville’s bankruptcy reorganization plan. It is separate from the personal injury trust, which has paid out nearly $1 billion to asbestos victims.
