COUNTYWIDE : Driver of Truck Hit by Train Dies
A Ventura woman died Saturday of injuries sustained when a train hit her truck on Thursday.
Linda Menjivar, 49, was thrown from her truck at the Olive Street crossing in Ventura on Thursday afternoon when a northbound Southern Pacific Railroad train plowed into it, Ventura Police Officer John Snowling said Thursday. Menjivar landed on a muddy gravel embankment next to the tracks. When police arrived, Menjivar was conscious, Snowling said.
She was taken to Ventura County Medical Center, where she died at 9:52 a.m. Saturday.
Menjivar worked in the maintenance department of the Ventura County Fairgrounds, said Art Amelio, fairgrounds assistant manager.
She is survived by her husband, Isabel Menjivar, and a son, Albino Martinez, Deputy Coroner Mitch Breese said.
