Square D Rejects French Firm’s Bid: Square D Co., an industrial control and electrical products group, rejected an unsolicited $1.8-billion takeover offer from France’s Groupe Schneider SA, saying it wanted to remain independent. The rejection was expected. The Palatine, Ill.-based company has previously said it wanted to avoid a takeover.
