“The American Music Awards” (ABC, Jan. 28) is a perfect example of how popular music has become a parody of itself. You know you’re in trouble when you have Magic Johnson conducting pre-show interviews. It seems every “modern” superstar (I use that term loosely; stars are no longer being bred) has become a walking cliche.
