A team from the Soviet Union set a world indoor record in the women’s 1,600-meter relay with a time of 3 minutes 28.80 seconds at the Six Nations track and field meet in Paris. The runner-up German team and and third-place France also were under the old record of 3:34.38 by a West German team in 1981.
