Division II Sacramento Tops USIU
SAN DIEGO — USIU’s Kevin Bradshaw was held to 30 points, seven under his nation-leading average, as the Gulls fell to visiting Division II Cal State Sacramento, 103-93, Saturday night.
Bradshaw shot just five-for-18 from the floor, but made 20-of-22 free throws.
USIU trailed 47-39 at the half, but led 86-85 with 4:29 remaining after a Isaac Brown lay-in. But CSUS (11-15) went on a 12-3 run in the next three minutes to put the game away.
Brown had 23 points and 10 rebounds for USIU, and Jeff Polinsky added 16, including three of six from three-point range. USIU’s Mike Sterner scored seven points, but had a game-high 16 rebounds.
USIU (2-24) shot just 38% from the floor to CSUS’s 43%.
Jacques Cormier led CSUS with 19 points, Greg Ballard had 18 and Tim Little added 14 points.
Sacramento, which had three players with 10 rebounds or more, grabbed 67 boards to USIU’s 43.
