Design Board Too Powerful
Regarding the Feb. 11 article “House Paint Ruling Turns Dream Into ‘Nightmare’ ”: Both my husband (a general contractor) and I (an interior designer) were absolutely outraged at the thought of what this young couple is being put through due to the unheard of and unjustified power of the Laguna Beach Design Review Board.
Who in that fair city gives those four or five members of that board the power to act as God and totally ruin people’s lives? Not only are they suffering through this ordeal and not able to occupy their beautiful home shown in the picture, but no doubt they are making enormous monthly house payments and are out the cost of additional housing, plus the hassle and expense of dealing with the attorneys.
We are so glad you exposed this board! And, quite thankful we have never had to deal with them personally. We would never build a house there due to the unfairness and harassment dealt to others by these board members.
