WORLD IN BRIEF : SPAIN : Patients Exposed to Lethal Radiation

Twenty-seven cancer patients were accidentally exposed to lethal doses of radiation in a hospital in Zaragoza, Spain, and most are expected to die from the effects. Three already have died. A judge is investigating the equipment malfunction that ran over a 10-day period in December. Similar accidents elsewhere have been attributed to computer software error, a faulty accelerator and a mathematical error by a doctor.
