Divers searching for a missing camper off the east end of Anacapa Island found a body floating in 20 feet of water Friday, but the person’s identity has not been confirmed.
A 25-year-old Santa Barbara man disappeared from the island Wednesday evening, hours after arriving by commercial boat. Park rangers spent Thursday unsuccessfully searching the island for him.
Park divers, who had resumed their search along the shoreline and in the water, found a body off the side of the island where the ranger’s station and campground are located about 2:30 p.m. Friday, said Jack Fitzgerald, chief ranger for the Channel Islands National Park.
A spokesman for the Ventura County coroner’s office could not be reached for comment Friday night.
