Countywide : Head of State Energy Panel Reappointed
Chuck Imbrecht, a former assemblyman from Ventura, has been appointed by Gov. Pete Wilson to another two-year term as chairman of the California Energy Commission, the state’s principal energy planning organization.
“Thanks in large part to the energies of Chuck Imbrecht,” Wilson said, “California is a leader in the development of environmentally sound energy policies that emphasize alternative fuels, renewable resources and conservation.”
Imbrecht, a lawyer and a Republican, has chaired the commission since 1983. His designation as chairman will not require Senate confirmation. Salary for the position is $95,403 a year.
Imbrecht, 42, also chairs the U.S. Alternative Fuels Council and is a member of the National Assn. of State Energy Officials and the Western Interstate Board of Energy.
Imbrecht served as a member of the state Assembly from 1976-82, representing a portion of Ventura County.
The Energy Commission, established in 1975, is responsible for the licensing of power plants and the development of renewable energy resources.
