Fillmore : Flood Plain Reduces Size of Subdivision
A subdivision approved by the Fillmore Planning Commission in December has been cut back because 27 of the 62 proposed lots are within the flood plain of the Santa Clara River.
On Thursday, the commission recommended the remaining 35 lots for approval by the City Council.
InterCal Associates of Fillmore has proposed extending River Street from Central Avenue to Mountain View Street, with lots on both sides of River Street. No houses are included in the proposal. The property is now an orange grove and would have to be annexed to Fillmore before it could be subdivided.
InterCal will make improvements to existing roads near the project, and also has been told to dedicate a 20-foot-wide strip of land for use as a city park.
