Group Removing Graffiti Fired on by Passing Car
A Los Angeles police officer and several people who were painting over graffiti on a building in the Lincoln Heights area were shot at by two men firing from a passing car, authorities said.
The shots missed and the two suspects were apprehended after a short car and foot pursuit, police said. There were no injuries.
The officer who was fired at is assigned to the Broadway foot patrol and had organized the anti-graffiti effort, police said. He was with several people painting a wall at Broadway and Alta Place when a car drove by and shots were fired out the window.
A handgun was recovered at the scene and two men taken into custody for questioning, officers said.
