A police officer directing traffic at the scene of an accident Sunday afternoon suffered minor injuries when she was struck by a car, police said.
The officer, whose name was not released, was expected to be released from Humana Hospital-Westminster on Sunday night after treatment for scrapes and bruises, police said.
“It looks like she’s going to be fine,” Sgt. John Leahy said. “Thank God it was nothing high-speed.”
The officer was rerouting traffic at a collision near the intersection of Garden Grove Boulevard and Bolsa Chica Road at 5:14 p.m. when she was struck.
Leahy said the driver apparently disregarded instructions to wait at the intersection.
