Gonzaga Beats Loyola Women
The Loyola Marymount women’s basketball team closed out its home schedule Saturday with a 66-59 loss to Gonzaga.
The Lions, who beat Portland, 74-57, Friday, fell to 10-16 overall and 3-9 in West Coast Conference play. Gonzaga is 11-15 and 5-7.
The Lions fell behind by as many as 13 points in the first half and trailed at halftime, 34-25. Gonzaga built the lead to 42-31 early in the second half, then withstood a Loyola rally that saw the Lions pull to within 61-57 in the final minute.
In their final game in Gersten Pavilion, Lynn Flanagan scored 13 points and Tricia Gibson 12. Jamie Jesko led the Lions with 14. Gonzaga’s Lisa Nichols led all scorers with 17.
