The One Gateway Plaza project, including a three-level underground parking garage and a 61-foot-high building that would be the tallest structure in the area, has been approved by the Thousand Oaks Planning Commission.
The three-story retail and office building is planned for the northwest corner of Thousand Oaks Boulevard and Moorpark Road.
The commission voted 3 to 2 Monday after several hours of testimony from representatives of the developer, M.O.S. Limited Partnership, and local opponents. The proposal called for 40% of the site to be landscaped, but the commission increased the percentage to 50%. Kirkor Suri, who owns M.O.S. Limited Partnership, said he has not decided whether to appeal the commission’s decision to the City Council.
About $2 million has been invested in the $16-million project, Suri said.
According to the environmental impact report, the most significant changes that the project would bring would be an increase in traffic and a deterioration in air quality.
