BUENA PARK : City’s After-School Program in Effect

A free after-school program for children 5 to 12 is being held at the Larwin Park clubhouse, 6150 Ball Road, city officials said.
Two recreation leaders will be on hand to assist the children in arts and crafts, games and a variety of other activities.
Although the city-sponsored program is several years old, it has had trouble getting children to attend, said parks coordinator Melissa Heyne.
“We are trying to get the attendance up,” Heyne said. Transportation to the clubhouse often makes it difficult, she explained.
Six to 10 children now attend the weekly sessions, which are held near Cypress College.
Classes are held from 3 to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Friday. The clubhouse is also open from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturdays. For more information, call the Recreation Department at (714) 821-1010.
