THOUSAND OAKS : Developer Seeks Height Exemption

A proposal to build a three-story retail and office building that exceeds the Thousand Oaks height limit by 26 feet will be considered by the Planning Commission at its meeting tonight.
The One Gateway Plaza project, planned for the northwest corner of Thousand Oaks Boulevard and Moorpark Road, will be controversial because of its height and a proposed underground garage, said Planner Richard Burgess. The city has turned down other sub-level parking lots because of the potential for crime.
Developer M.O.S. Limited Partnership has proposed a 61-foot-high building. The city’s 35-foot height limit is designed to retain its semi-rural image, Burgess said.
