COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Ventura Women Move Into 1st With Upset
Taking advantage of a significant rebounding advantage, the Ventura College women’s basketball team upset Moorpark, 69-51, Saturday at Ventura and moved into first place by percentage points in the Western State Conference Northern Division.
Moorpark (26-3, 5-1 in division play), ranked fourth in the state, pulled within one point early in the second half, but Ventura (19-10, 6-1) took control thereafter.
Ventura outrebounded Moorpark, 48-37. Nicole Ellis scored eight points in a row to give Ventura a 62-45 lead. Lonnette Hall led Ventura with 23 points.
