U.S. International Edges Cal Poly Pomona

The U.S. International baseball team scored in the bottom of the ninth on an RBI double by David Young to defeat Cal Poly Pomona, 7-6, at USIU Wednesday. Darrin Forster and Chris Townsend hit home runs for USIU, which improved to 3-4. Townsend went the distance for the victory. Pomona is 1-3.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Santa Clara ended University of San Diego’s six-game winning streak with a 95-83 victory in a West Coast Conference game at USD.
USD center Chris Enger scored a career high 26 points to lead all scorers. USD was without its leading scorer and second leading rebounder, Christi English, who was out with the flu.
USD (12-10, 7-2) shot only five free throws while Santa Clara (21-2, 9-0) took 21.
MEN’S BASKETBALL
Christian Heritage turned the ball over 30 times as the Hawks lost to Biola, 104-66 in a nonconference game. The Hawk’s Rob Meeter, who leads the district averaging nine rebounds a game, only grabbed two to add to his two points. Christian Heritage fell to 7-15. Biola is now 20-6.
MEN’S VOLLEYBALL
Coley Kyman had 19 kills to help Cal State Northridge defeat visiting UC San Diego, 15-7, 15-11, 15-10. Gerry Goldstein had 11 kills and Chris Romey had seven for UCSD (1-6). Northridge improved to 6-2.
