San Diego
The state Public Utilities Commission will hear arguments March 6 in San Francisco on the proposed merger between Southern California Edison and San Diego Gas & Electric Co. Intervenors in the case, including the utilities and several opponents, will use the hearings to comment on a recommendation that two law judges issued Friday. That 1,300-page report argued against allowing the merger to proceed. The final decision, however, rests with the commission.
The hearings are being held because of “extraordinary public interest” in the merger review that the PUC has been conducting for the past two years.
