Compton : Controller Resigns to Take Finance Job in Hawthorne

Timothy O. Brown, for seven years the city of Compton’s controller, has become finance director in Hawthorne.
Brown, 44, resigned from Compton last Friday in order to take over his duties in Hawthorne on Monday. Tuesday night, the Compton City Council presented him with a plaque of appreciation.
Working for Compton was “enjoyable and rewarding,” Brown said this week, adding that he was looking forward to the challenges of working in Hawthorne. In Compton, Brown earned about $77,000 a year, he said. He declined to say what he would earn in Hawthorne but termed the salary equivalent.
