Sheriff’s deputies arrested 10 suspects Saturday afternoon in connection with a stolen radioactive nuclear guage and a stolen car.
The gauge, locked in a steel orange box and used to measure the density of soil, was stolen from the truck owned by Leroy Randall & Associates either Friday or Saturday at 3200 block of Sweetwater Spring Boulevard.
The sheriff’s department had issued a public warning about the nuclear gauge early Saturday.
After finding an abandoned car, investigators traced the car to a Lakeside home, where deputies found weapons, pipe bombs, a stolen car, and the gauge.
Although the gauge was opened, it was sealed with a protective liner so radioactive particles did not seep out, a sheriff’s spokesman said.
