Norwegians bade farewell to King Olav, the “People’s King,” in a somber funeral through the frozen streets of Oslo. Olav, who died Jan. 17 at the age of 87, was laid to rest in the royal crypt of the 14th-Century Akershus castle over the Oslo fiord after a funeral that was attended by royalty and political leaders from at least 100 countries.
