Three Coins Up Wins Feature Race at Aqueduct by Disqualification
NEW YORK — A 19-1 shot, Three Coins Up, was declared the winner of the $69,900 Count Fleet Stakes at Aqueduct Sunday after first-place finisher Stately Wager was disqualified for bearing out through the stretch.
After the track stewards placed Stately Wager second, Three Coins Up, ridden by Herb McCauley, was given his second victory in six career starts.
Stately Wager, under Jorge Chavez, had finished a neck in front of the field.
Doctor Fish was third, another four lengths back.
Three Coins Up, who covered the 1 mile 70 yards in 1:44 4/5, returned $40, $13.40 and $5.20. Stately Wager paid $5 and $3.80, and Doctor Fish returned $5.80.
Jockey Julie Krone escaped injury when unseated by her mount, Peanut Butter Onit, at the start of the seventh race.
Krone, who lay motionless until removed from the track on a stretcher, suffered a bruised chin. She is expected to ride today.
