OJAI : Offer to Underwrite Housing Is Renewed
- Share via
The Ojai Redevelopment Agency has renewed its commitment of $250,000 to an affordable housing project that is stalled by water worries.
The agency agreed last week to extend its contract for another year with Cabrillo Economic Development Corp. The nonprofit housing developer plans to build 21 condominiums for low- and moderate-income buyers at 508 N. Montgomery St.
The agency signed the original one-year agreement to help underwrite the project in January, 1990. But a study of the environmental effects of the project is still six months from completion, officials said.
The Ojai City Council ordered the full environmental study in September after an initial review indicated that the new housing could severely impact available water supplies.
