THE SIDELINES : Dallas Coach Fined, Suspended for Today’s Game With Clippers
NEW YORK — Dallas Coach Rich Adubato was fined $1,500 and suspended for one game by the NBA today for pushing referee Bob Delaney and criticizing officials after a recent loss to San Antonio. Adubato is to sit out tonight’s game against the Clippers in Dallas.
Adubato got into a confrontation with Delaney and referee Ed T. Rush on Wednesday night after the Mavericks’ 100-94 loss at San Antonio.
The coach chased Rush off the floor and later got into a shouting match with Delaney. Adubato bumped Delaney during the incident but said Delaney pushed him first.
The NBA said Adubato also was punished for making “derogatory comments to the media concerning the officiating.” After the loss, Adubato said “the officials took this game away from us.”
