STATE : Small Oil Slick Blows Offshore
From Times Wire Services
HUNTINGTON BEACH — A small, 150-yard-long oil slick off Bolsa Chica State Beach has blown about 1 1/2 miles offshore, and cleanup crews have been called in today to vacuum it up, Coast Guard officials said.
No oil hit shore, so beaches, harbors and wetlands have apparently been spared any harm. The minor spill, estimated at 42 gallons, was spotted Thursday afternoon as close as 100 yards to the state beach south of Warner Avenue.
The origin of the oil is unknown.
