Chevalier Leads Northridge Victory
CHICAGO — Andre Chevalier scored 20 points and had eight assists as Cal State Northridge defeated Loyola of Chicago, 90-76, Tuesday night.
The Ramblers (5-8) took a 19-13 lead, with Keith Gailes scoring their first 12 points. Gailes finished with 27 points and Atkins Hunter added 20.
The Matadors (5-9) gradually chipped away at the deficit, overtaking Loyola, 30-29, when a technical foul was called against Loyola’s bench, and David Keeter hit the free throw.
Northridge then outscored the Rambers, 11-4, to take a 41-33 halftime lead. The Matadors built a 67-54 lead with 7:38 left. Percy Fisher, who finished with 17 points, scored 11 points for the Matadors during the first 12:32 of the second half.
Loyola scored the next nine points to close within 67-63 with 4:58 left, but that was a close as the Ramblers would get.
