Schools Needs More People Like Ex-Coach

As a former teacher at Arcadia High School, I read with great interest your article on the “resignation” of head football coach Alan Kaylor (Times, Jan. 3.)

I was dismayed, but not surprised, to see that Principal Jerry Barshay put winning over everything else in asking that Kaylor resign or be fired.

It seems from your article that Kaylor is just the sort of person we need to keep in education, one who cares more about instilling positive values than a winning season. How sad for Arcadia that Principal Barshay aligned himself with those trying to lower the quality of education.
