DEATHS : Rodriguez, 1978’s Mr. Universe

TUCSON — Carlos Rodriguez, who was bodybuilding’s Mr. Universe in 1978, has died of stomach cancer. He was 47.
Rodriguez, who owned the Sportsworld Fitness Center in Tucson, was found to have stomach cancer three years ago. He underwent surgery five times.
He was in a coma for several days before awaking five days before his death Wednesday.
