Nelson Protests: An anti-war song that Willie Nelson wrote nearly 25 years ago after a friend was drafted for duty in Vietnam is attracting interest because of the Persian Gulf crisis. Nelson is protesting the U.S. military buildup against Iraq by offering the original song called “Jimmy’s Road,” and a 10-minute reading of Mark Twain’s “The War Prayer,” free to anyone who sends a blank cassette. Nelson wrote “Jimmy’s Road” nearly 25 years ago when David Zettner--a bass player in his band--was drafted.
