CASPERS REGIONAL PARK — Authorities raided what they believe to be an illegal auto parts supplier late Tuesday after they chased a stolen car from San Clemente to a farmhouse in a remote area near the Ortega Highway.
San Clemente police spotted the auto theft suspect on the San Diego Freeway and followed him until they reached the border of San Juan Capistrano and unincorporated county land. At that point, they asked CHP units to continue looking for the stolen car.
CHP units found the stolen car a short time later, abandoned at the side of the road, California Highway Patrol Officer Randy Rimmey said. A nearby resident approached officers as they were searching the stolen car and told them that the driver and two passengers had jumped into another car and had headed for a secluded house.
When police arrived at the house identified by the witness, they found 10 occupants, three of whom were identified by a San Clemente officer as the ones allegedly riding in the stolen car.
A check of the property turned up five other stolen cars and a variety of automobile and motorcycle parts, Rimmey said.
All 10 suspects were taken into custody, Rimmey said.
