SHORT TAKES : Prince Charles to Miss Polo Date

VERO BEACH, Fla. — England’s Prince Charles will miss this year’s competition in an annual benefit polo match that has featured him in the past, officials said.
The lingering effects of a broken arm are keeping the heir to England’s throne from attending the third annual Rolex-Prince of Wales Cup Polo Tournament in February in northern Indian River County, match spokeswoman Jane Ford said Monday.
Up to 5,000 spectators flocked to the event in 1989 and again in 1990 to watch Prince Charles. This year’s match is set to begin Feb. 8.
