Utah Governor Says He Won’t Seek 3rd Term

SALT LAKE CITY — Utah Gov. Norman H. Bangerter announced Thursday that he will not seek a third term in 1992, saying he always had seen the post as “an eight-year commitment.”
The announcement came after “careful consideration” over the Thanksgiving weekend, the Republican governor said, adding that he and his family had decided eight years as chief executive were enough.
Bangerter, 57, said that once his term is over in January, 1993, he plans to return to the jobs he left for the governor’s chair, those of builder and contractor.
