SHORT TAKES : Black & Decker Cut, Sues
BALTIMORE — A scene in “Die Hard 2” in which Bruce Willis takes a power drill to an airport air duct ended up on the cutting-room floor, and now 20th Century Fox could end up in court.
Black & Decker Inc. has filed suit in federal court in Baltimore, accusing the filmmaker and the marketing firm Krown-Young & Rubicam of failing to fulfill a promise that one of its drills would be featured in the film.
Black & Decker said in court papers filed Nov. 7 that it had planned an ad campaign based on the scene.
The company is seeking at least $150,000. It accused Fox, the film’s distributor, and Krown-Young & Rubicam of negligence and breach of contract.
